Hopetoun Tea Rooms, CBD

This visit was quite awhile ago but I never had the chance to post about it  fine, I was constantly distracted by posting about the stuff that I baked :P

You don't have to be a 'sweet' person to enjoy Hopetoun Tea Room because they also offer a range of savoury dishes. But of course, it's quite impossible to resist the sweet treats that were beautifully displayed at the shop's window! Since I was there during the weekends, I did expect a queue. The wait was about 15-20 minutes but it was certainly enjoyable! Enjoyable?? Yes! One of the lovely staff came out with a lovely sample of cakes for us to munch on while we waited! And before we knew it, we were shown to a cozy table by the corner.

Imagine if this was a buffet!!

Coffee to start

Club Sandwich

This was a really weird choice for me because I rarely order savoury sandwiches. But I've heard good things about it so, I decided to give it a try!
And I'm so glad I did!!! The bread was crisp & toasted and the fillings tasted hmm... endless! (If that makes sense!) There was creaminess from the avocado, crunchiness from the lettuce, zingy-ness from the chutney, saltiness from the turkey, chewiness from the middle slice of bread, gooey-ness from the cheese... I told you, it tasted endless! :D

New York Cheesecake

And of course, you can't leave Hopetoun Tearoom without a taste of their cakes! If I could, I wanted a taste of everything but I heard the cheesecake calling out my name :P

It was a moist-melt-in-your-mouth kind of cheesecake and not overly sweet. The addition of the sliced fruits did cut into the richness and creaminess of the cake!
And the best part, I wasn't bored with the cake by the end of it (that usually happens to me when I'm eating cheesecakes!).

I was looking forward to ordering their high-tea set but was told that we had to order beforehand. Ah well, I only blame myself for not doing the 'research'! There's always next time, right? :D

  11. Soooo beautiful! Great shots, Vien. And you know this is one of those places we've walked past a bazillion times, peek through the shop window and say "have to come back to try" but never get around to. I really should cause both sweets and savouries are winning me over. Nice =)
