Hibachi, CBD

Along the street I rarely visit, we made a booking for 10 to celebrate my dear friend’s birthday. Despite the wind and rain, we got there without any casualties, starving for food.

Sashimi & tempura were heavily featured on the menu while noodle-lovers and vegetarians have very little to choose from. After deciding on our dishes, we rang the bell (literally!) and ordered.

Tempura
Deep-fried prawns & variety of vegetables served with mirin soy sauce

The batter was light and crisp without being too oily (except the onion ring!)

Buta Kimuchi
Grilled pork belly toasted with spicy Japanese Kimuchi sauce

Sashimi Set
Zensai, Assorted Sashimi, Tempura, Miso soup & Rice

Sashimi

Wagyu Su-te-ki
200g Wagyu sirloin steak with seasonal vegetables served on hot plate with goma (sesame) sauce

Hibachi Kaisen Teppan
Assorted Seafood on hot plate served with Ponzu sauce

Fresh & generous amount of seafood (fish, calamari, scallop & prawns) cooked to my liking! It was buttery and flavourful but the Ponzu sauce (served on the side) didn't add anything to the dish. Otherwise, the dish was satisfying.

Dorayaki (Red Bean Pancake) served with Green Tea ice cream

Green Tea Sponge Cake with Green Tea ice cream

Forgive me for the lack of descriptions & reviews on the food but everyone enjoyed their meals and truly enjoyed the night!

  1. I want to run away with all that sashimi and then come back for dessert! Oh, how I love Japanese.

  2. Hello! just wanted to ask you a few more questions about hibachi! What's the price like? And what's your favourite dish? Is it a good atmosphere? I've got a friend visiting from overseas soon so want to make sure that he enjoys some good jap food :D

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! :)
You can find the prices on their website along with the whole menu. From what I ate, I liked the hot plate seafood the best. But the sashimi's pretty darn good! As for the atmosphere, we booked a 'private' room so, so it was cozy! There's another place which I'd like to recommend- Izakaya Den. You can check out from Urbanspoon! Hope I've helped!

  4. Thank you! That's most certainly very helpful! :) Do you think Izakaya Den may be better than Hibachi? Still choosing between a couple especially because Izakaya Den doesn't take dinner bookings on a Friday night :( It'll be the four of us for Hibachi, do you think it'll be good to book the private room as well? :D

hmm.. I can't really compare it because they're both completely different. If you're looking for a classic Japanese meal, definitely Hibachi! As for the private room, I went with 10 people the last time! So, the table might be a bit too big for 4 but could definitely give it a try! That's true! You've got to be there early at Izakaya Den especially on a Friday night! If you're looking for a quieter night without much stress of getting a table, Hibachi might be the better option!
