Aix Cafe Creperie Salon, CBD & WIAW 2

Who says that you can’t have dessert for breakfast? Well, you can! There’s no rule saying that you’ve gotta have oatmeal/cereal/toast for breakfast. There’s no rule saying meals first, then desserts. ;)

So, I woke up today and I wanted chocolate. Not any chocolate. Nutella. And not just Nutella on toast. I wanted Nutella on crepes. I was deciding between Roule Galette or Creperie le Triskel but Aix Cafe Creperie Salon popped into my mind.

It's almost impossible to miss Aix if you're walking along Centre Place! An extensive list of savoury & sweet crepes for you to choose from and maybe a cup of coffee to kick start your day!

Prosciutto, zucchini, fontina cheese, tomatoes & rocket crepe

The crepes were different. But a good different! It’s thicker than normal crepes- kinda like a cross between a crepe and a thin pancake. Chewy but crispy at the sides. And this savoury combination was unbelievably good! It was fresh, cheesy & generously filled.

Sticking to the savoury side, my dear friend gave her stamp of approval with a 'yummm!!' after every bite!

Nutella crepe

The Nutella crepe had the same batter as the savoury crepe which reminded me of a Nutella pancake or a Nutella (extremely thin-crust) pizza! It was absolutely the best way to start the day!! Sweet, slightly chewy, slightly crisp, velvety, rich. Seriously, nothing can go wrong with Nutella.

At Aix, you don’t have to worry about eating plain bits of crepe! The Nutella was liberally spread and there was ample of creamy goodness in each bite. ;)

No question that I would return to AIX more often! And if you're around Degraves St./Centre Place at any time of the day, do stop by because you won't regret it:)

And now, my noms for the rest of the day! How exciting! It felt like it was only yesterday when I did my first WIAW! Saw lots of food, got lots of lovely feedback.. :)

Hearty meal of the day: Raspberry, Blueberry & Cinnamon Oatmeal

It might look like a bowl of unappealing mush but I love berries! Inspired by the blueberry porridge from Lot 6, I decided to add some raspberry for a contrasting sourness to the otherwise sweet & comforting bowl of oatmeal!

Snack of the day: Rice cracker with my home-made Chocolate & Cinnamon PB

And you’d thought that my early dose of Nutella was enough to satisfy my chocolate cravings? ;) And if you haven’t checked out my recipe for my Choc PB, check it out here!

Product of the day: Uncle Toby’s High Fibre Bite (Honey)

This is my Aussie substitute for my beloved bowl of Puffins! How are they different? They’re crunchier, denser & sweeter. With milk, they stay crunchy and pillowy! Snack, breakfast, lunch or dinner - I could easily finish ‘em in two days!

Any crazy morning cravings??
Are you a sweet or savoury person??

  1. Your pictures are beautiful! Aix sounds like a perfect place for a sweet morning! :D I usually don't crave stuff in mornings, but if I do, its an Egg McMuffin or pancake of muffin craving; Yum! I'm absolutely a sweet person! Desserts are totally my thing! :D

  2. Your day of eats looks really yum! I'm an Aussie puffin fan too, so I get my fix from iHerb :P I have a code on my blog for $5 off - even though it's shipped from America it works out to be WAY cheaper than what you pay for cereals in Aussie health food stores! My last package was filled to the brim with puffins, peanut flour and other GF goodies and it was all under $40, including postage.

  4. I like the brown sugar one better than the honey version of that cereal; it seems "softer" to me. Not so hard on da teeth, and easier to eat with peanut butter... :P Hurrah for oatmeal, too!

  6. What beautiful photos! Seriously, you should give them to the restaurant.

There definitely is no rule against dessert for breakfast...or even dessert FIRST. Why not? If you want sweet, you should have sweet.

Of course, is Nutella REALLY dessert? I like to think of it as an indulgent snack food. ;)

  7. actually, that bowl of oats looks quite nice. I love the colour combo.
crepes are yum. I love them stufffed with veg. I'm usually just starving in the mornings, and I'm a sweet breakfast person all the way.
I want those puffinish cereals as well. Too bad the UK doesn't have anything like that :(

  9. I love crepes and those look delicious! I'm also going to have to save your PB recipe for a rainy day- looks yummy and like a fun culinary adventure! I'm picky about the texture of my nut butters, so I might as well try and make my own and see how it goes!

  14. Hi guys! Thank you for all the wonderful comments! :D Looks like most of us prefer sweet over savoury! Especially when Nutella's involved! ;)

  15. I am sweet and salty person. I like a mix! Though I'd usually choose sweet over savory. I haven't had a crepe in ages, and I actually prefer savory crepes (I'm all over the place!). That being said, if you put a nutella crepe in front of me, I definitely wouldn't push it away!

  16. Ahh I love crepes! I have never had a savory crepe ever. I always go with sweet ;) strawberry or chocolate filling. That may just be indicative of my culture though. My mom is Hungarian and they have their own version called palascinta, and they're really never savory. That looks like a crazy cute little joint :)
