Laurent, Melbourne

After lunch, we still felt that something was missing. So, what better way to warm ourselves than a nice hot cup of coffee and chocolate. When we were walking out of Causeway lane, we spotted this classy looking cafe with eye-catching pastries! Sadly :( we were too full for their pastries so we tried their drinks.

Spring got a skinny cappuccino and Vien got a soy hot chocolate! one word : YUM.
As we were leaving, we already had plans for our next visit there.. tea time on Friday afternoon! When we're both hungry after uni!!

Cafe Insieme, Melbourne

Lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon, we're free to look for good food because...
... it's semester break!

Our original plan of eating sushi from a store nearby wasn't very successful after all! So we wandered around the city and found Causeway lane!

Tandoori Chicken Salad

Veggie Breakfast

The tandoori chicken went really well with the light vinegar dressing! The Veggie breaky was simple and satisfying:) A combination of all Vien's favourite food : spinach, mushroom and egg!

Vien was really distracted by the chef as he was multi-tasking between cooking two different dishes while manning the till! AND he was so calm!!

Vegie Bar (3rd visit), Melbourne

This is OFFICIALLY OUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANT!

Vegie Roast - Roasted vegetables with hummus and yogurt

The hummus was one of my favourite parts of the dish! Would definitely eat it again.

The Zen (thin crusted pizza) - Baby spinach, mushroom, mozzarella cheese, tempeh and pumpkin

The tempeh was too salty for my liking! But it was a great pizza overall!

DESSERT!
Once again... THE FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE!!
ps. still our favourite!!!!

White chocolate and macadamia blondie

Disappointing when compared to the super gooey, super yummy chocolate cake!

Vegie Bar (2nd visit), Melbourne

We're back for more! Vegie Bar left us wanting more the last time so on Vien's birthday we decided to go back!!! This time.. with more people!

Spring: Tagine - Almond and Date couscous with vegetables, yogurt and chickpeas!

Vien: Gado Gado - Boiled vegetables with Satay sauce

The whole table was filled with delicious looking food! The food never fails to satisfy! Even our meat-loving friends agree with us:) The mildly sweet couscous went great with the fruity vegetable sauce. The satay sauce was rich and definitely one of the best we've tried in Melbourne!

SURPRISE!

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Spring sneakily got help from the waitress to bring a slice of this indescribably AMAZING cake with a lighted candle for Vien to blow out:) This definitely tops our dessert list! Warm melted chocolate over moist chocolatey cake!! Chocolate overload!!
Even if you're not a big fan of vegetarian food, this is a MUST try!

SoulMama, St. Kilda

After picking Vien up from her Psychology lecture (unexpectedly), Spring got us on a tram to "some place". And guess what? Spring being Spring.. got us LOST!! What a pre-birthday surprise:) Thankfully, we finally got to St. Kilda Sea Baths.

Spring: Tikka Masala Vegetables, Dill & Beetroot Roll, Thai Balls, Seasonal Vegetable in Satay Sauce with brown rice.

Vien: Dahl, Root Vegetable Gratin, Sweet Potato and Chilli Rice Balls, Seasonal Vegetables in Satay Sauce with brown rice

It's a buffet style vegetarian restaurant overlooking the beach. With choices of either 3,4 or 5 dishes with rice, we were really excited. We felt like we were back in high school queuing up during recess. We were spoilt for choice!

After a very filling dinner, there is always room for DESSERT!

Spring: Chocolate Hazelnut Tart with a side of Honey Cinnamon yogurt

Vien: Apple Crumble served with ice-cream

One word. AMAZING!
Spring: It was like a chocolate brownie coated in Snickers' caramel topped with hazelnuts! Yummmmmmm :)
Vien: I would eat this for breakfast everyday! It was served hot and really satisfying!

Rating: 9/10 (The dessert pulled this one up!)

Coconut House, Melbourne

We've been craving curry for quite some time. So we decided to return to our roots and have an authentic Malaysian meal.

Traditional Curry Laksa

Spinach and Eggplant Curry Laksa

The first few bites were extremely satisfying but sadly it did not last. The curry soup was too mild for our liking. We miss the spicy curry laksas that make us sniffle and tear! yummy:)
Overall, it did remind us of home but it wasn't the best.

Chinese Lunch Buffet

If anyone is looking for a pretty cheap asian buffet, we found a place opposite Queen Victoria's market! The lunch buffet is AUD8.50 per person and there was quite a large variety of food to choose from..

Spring's fave : Ginger Fish & Salt and Pepper Fish!

Vien's fave: Pumpkin cake, Tofu & Eggplant!

Overall rating : 6/10
Good place to go when you're on a budget or if you're really hungry!

Ps. We don't know the name of the cafe but it's along Elizabeth Street opp. Queen Vic market, beside an Asian grocery mart.
